Help to STOP Community Hall in Dovecot from being sold off

Donation protected
Hi my name is Wayne Blundell. I am a Senior Ju-Jitsu Coach and teach my classes here at the Holy Spirit Church Hall in Dovecot, Liverpool, UK.

The Holy Spirit Church Hall has been a pillar of the Dovecot community.

However, the church commissioners, citing declining use, ageing congregation have decided to sell the property, prompting concerns from local residents.

The Holy Spirit Church Hall has been the centre of the Dovecot community since its consecration in 1931.

Our Community Groups, who also use the Hall include Food Banks, Dance, Ju-Jitsu classes to name a few.

The Hall has a kitchen, toilets and is accessible for everyone to use.

The Holy Spirit Church Hall is an unlisted building with grounds located in Dovecot at the corner of Dovecot Avenue and East Prescot Road, Liverpool, L14.

The sale of the Hall and its use are subject to the Diocese of Liverpool approval.

We have a chance to raise the funds and keep it as it is with help from the public, local businesses and charity funding organisations.

We want to purchase the Hall and keep it in our community, with trusted Committee Members in place to run it.

This is for the Kids, Adults and the elderly and future generations of Dovecot and the wider community.

The closure of the Hall will have a detrimental effect on on all of our groups using it and the wider community.

You may not be aware of this, Dovecot is socially deprived in certain areas.

When young people aren’t involved in positive activities they are more likely to get exploited and get involved in crime and other illegal activities.

It is really important for kids to have a safe space with stable adults where they can enjoy themselves and have opportunities to do things they otherwise wouldn’t.

Children and Adults and the elderly mental health well-being is just as important as their physical health. Good mental health helps them develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them.

We don't want our future generations being involved with gangs who carry guns.

The Hall provides the community a chance to empowering youth, strengthening neighbourhoods.

Church building Halls play a central role in the social fabric and social infrastructure of communities in ways we don’t even necessarily think about until they’re not there.

They are more than amenities.

While pressure from the pandemic wanes, we are experiencing high mental and physical illness associated with long-term health conditions, unhealthy lifestyles.

The isolation that came with the pandemic has affected our society in profound ways, and many communities are fractured.

People need to feel that they belong again.

We would like to open the Hall up to new groups and welcome everyone with open arms.

This Hall is so important to us and our community, please help support a good cause and spread the word.

Giving £5 would really help x

Giving is not just about making a donation.
It is about making a difference.
