Help Save Rocky's Life! Seriously Injured Cat!
This poor, sweet cat was found next to a high rise residential building in Toronto's West End. A very attentive and kind individual was taking a shortcut to another building through a construction site and found this poor cat screaming in pain. He tried to give him food but the cat was in so much pain that he could not focus on anything else, not even super smelly delicious treats!
We rushed him to the emergency veterinary hospital after an amazing rescue, Rescue Angels, committed to his care. On the drive over, he yowled in pain, crying, desperate for a chance at life. At the vet, he was found to have:
-extreme body shock
-extremely low BP
-low glucose
-bad oxygen levels
-fractured pelvis
-fractured tooth
-shattered leg
-fluid in lungs
He is still in the ICU and has been on oxygen ever since entering the hospital. They may need to amputate his leg, but need to make sure he is strong enough for surgery. He is receiving around the clock care, and so his bill is adding up quite quickly. His bill is already at $2800.
We want to give this sweet boy every fighting chance.
Any amount is greatly appreciated, and we want to help out his supporting rescue, Rescue Angels, as much love and support as possible!
For transparency purposes:
-My name is Sarah, and I drove Rocky to the ER vet after he was found by an individual who posted to a local lost and found cat Facebook group seeking advice about the injured cat. I drove there to help right away since I learned I lived only 5 minutes from where the cat was found.
-I also live in Toronto, and I found out about the story from the Facebook group.
-I am not directly affiliated with Rescue Angels. I am only the fundraiser organizer and the person who drove Rocky to the ER vet initially. They reached out to me when I had the cat and sought help about where to take him to get treatment. He desperately needed care and they stepped in, giving me the green light to go to the ER vet. Vet bills were adding up quickly, so they asked if I could raise funds somehow. People from the original FB group suggested GoFundMe, and so they asked me to be in charge of it.
-Rescue Angels has informed me that Rocky's expenses are adding up quite quickly, which is why the fundraiser goal has been changed multiple times. As of Friday March 10th, though, it is expected that Rocky will be in the ICU at the ER vet until Monday. By that point, the ICU costs alone will be about $10,000. Previous as well as future testing (X-rays, CT scans, MRI) is also a major source of the bills, and will be at least roughly $3,000. The final main cost they are suspecting is leg surgery, which was quoted at $7,000. We also suspect he will need a full dental check up and removal of the fractured tooth (but don't have an exact estimate of that cost yet, estimated at $2000, though). All of the funds from GoFundMe will go directly to Rescue Angels, not me, to pay off these charges at the ER vet and upcoming surgery. So, the total treatment estimate for now is approximately $22,000.
