Help save QLD towns from the Aboriginal Land Act $20
Donation protected
Hi world! We are asking for help to raise money to fight the Aboriginal Land Act on behalf of the 15 towns effected so far by ALA transfers. We are calling for a moratorium on further freeholding by the Department of resources until such time as a clear, open process, involving all impacted stakeholders is committed to by the Government. The Crown Land of this State is held on trust by the Government for all Queenslanders and it shouldn’t be gifted to private interests without proper justification and full consultation.
We will need to spend on advertising via social media and the legacy media with our aim being to make the Aboriginal Land act an election issue in QLD and if need be the federal election after. 70% of Queensland voted against the Voice to parliament. The people had a look at what the voice was, what it stood for and what it proposed to deliver.
I can give you a hot tip if the Aboriginal Land Act was put to a referendum 96% of the state would vote against it as per the courier mail poll of over 11,000 people. Aboriginal people themselves are among some of the largest advocates for change as the act itself gives land and power to Aboriginal corporations which represent less then 20% of aboriginal people.
In the instance of Toobeah a Aboriginal corporation representing 5 families from 1920 with a stated connection to the township from 1920-1964 is to be gifted 540 acres. The rest of the world's connection to Toobeah is 190 years and the Gamilaraay people's connection is 20,000 years.
Generations of Australians have invested in Australia for us to all of a sudden have to have a conversation about who owns the local park, beach and river is unacceptable and un Australian a fair go has been thrown out the door. The Bigambul Corporation last year tried to claim via court $25 billion dollars in reparations which is another concept within the Qld Aboriginal Land Act. Who's paying for this?
