Help Save Sarah's Life - Stage 2B Cervical Cancer

Sarah, 41 years old, is very much needed by her seven children. Sarah's story started in May 2022, and at the age of 41, she was diagnosed with Stage 2B, Non-Keratinizing Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Cervix or known to be Cervical Cancer. The prognosis meant that Sarah's cancer was aggressive, and surgeons decided they couldn’t operate because it had spread beyond the cervix to the tissues around the uterus but not onto the pelvic wall. Her cervical biopsy indicates that the tumor has spread far enough that surgery is not an option. BUT, this is treatable, and a treatment plan was put into place with the intent to cure cancer and save Sarah's life. Her seven beautiful children, ages 5 -22 years old, and her husband still need her. Sarah is a valuable member of her community in the Philippines, serving as a Violence against Women and Children Officer.

 

Sarah is well loved by her sibling, her cousins and her children. The news was heartbreaking for all of us. As Sarah’s oncologist has put a treatment plan in place to save Sarah's life, Sarah remains the most positive person we know. She is so strong and determined not to let this beat her. As she always say 'kaya yan, ako pa'. Together, my family and my cousins are relentlessly researching different access to treatment plans but so far the following are the estimated cost of her treatment, which is very expensive for a mother of seven children.

 

Radio Therapy/ External Radiation (5 days a week for 7 weeks) = 140,000 pesos

Chemotherapy during radiation Therapy ( Once a week for 7 weeks) = 70,000 pesos

Brachytherapy/ internal radiation ( Once a week for 4 sessions) = 130,000 pesos

Total Estimate= 340,000 pesos or 6,800 USD
