Help save Spencers Road Crawley Gurdwara

As shared on KTV Global and Sikh Channel there has been an ongoing court case within Crawley’s Spencers Road Sangat and Ifield Green Gurdwara Committee. Spencers Road unfortunately lost the case which now means Ifield Green can now take control of Spencer's Road Gurdwara.

 

The Gurdwara at Spencers Road has actively running as the heart of the Sikh community within Crawley and surrounding areas for over 40 years.

 

The Ifield Green Committee have ordered us to vacate the Gurdwara by 7th of February 2022, leaving us with little over a week to arrange transportation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and all the equipment, furniture and belongings within the Gurdwara. They have ordered us to vacate but are yet to confirm their intentions of what they will be doing with the site, leaving us without our Gurdwara.

 

There are hundreds of sangat members (worshipers) including grandparents, parents, children and many more individuals from the surrounding areas and community that still come to Spencers Road Gurdwara regularly. This is affecting hundreds of lives and the deterioration of the Sangat’s mental health must be considered.

 

We are now actively looking at financial options to acquire the Gurdwara site before it is sold and demolished for flats, as previously attempted by the Ifield Green Committee in 2017.

 

We have notified the Executive committee of Ifield Green of our intention the purchase the Gurdwara and have asked for more time, beyond 7th February, to raise the required funds and agree a price that suits both parties. They have since refused to give us extra time to clear the space, with only 7 days notice.

 

Aim

 

The objective of this page is to humbly reach out to the wider community to help our sangat raise the required funds to purchase our Gurdwara and continue its operation in the centre of Crawley, while continuing our Seva in the Sussex area. We would be extremely grateful for any donations made, regardless of size.

 

If we are unsuccessful, we will refund any donations made.
