Here's my story told by GLOBAL NEWS: -------> https://globalnews.ca/news/4288338/montreal-couple-says-power-cut-off-at-bakery-over-landlord-dispute/
My name is Stephanie Araujo, I’m the owner of “Stephanie’s Bakery” located in Montreal Canada. I have signed a 3 year lease with my landlord, which was the mistake of my life. He neglects his duties, he’s disrespectful to women and behaves aggressively both verbally and physically. 2 months ago the ventilation system broke and he has refused to fix it. When my oven is on, it gets so HOT that my stageiere student got a rash and almost fainted. I was embarrassed when her teacher visited! When I stood up to him, he didn’t like it. June 19th, I walked in to my bakery and the power was intentionally shut off. My freezer was shut down, my fridge was shut down. I LOST EVERYTHING! 3 weeks worth of what my students helped me bake is garbage. As I walked to the back to check the power breaker, there was a lock installed overnight that prevents us from putting the power back on. So I’m illegally locked out of my bakery, and according to police "it will take time to resolve." Not to mention I have 19 cake orders this weekend, and all customers have already paid a deposit. I fear for my future having to operate my bakery in his building. His son is his lawyer, and according to another woman in our building, he’s known to drag out the court process in hopes his challengers will fold due to pressure and lawyer fees.
I’ve set up this GO FUND ME page to ask for the communities support. I’m fighting to terminate my contract with him. Every dollar raised will go to my lawyer’s battle, and helping me rebuild “Stephanie’s Bakery” from the ground back up. It would mean the world to get my life back on a positive path. I have visions of a successful bakery, and using that platform to give back to those who helped me along the way. Right now that vision is blurry but I trust in you guys to feel the authenticity in my words and help me. God bless everyone, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
