Help Save Swan Lake Park

The Friends of Swan Lake Park are citizens of Markham, Ontario committed to saving Swan Lake and Swan Lake Park. In 2012, Swan Lake was ranked 15th out of 17 man-made urban lakes in Ontario in terms of water quality and is consistently rated as a hypereutrophic lake, the poorest rating possible.

OUR MISSION

To encourage the City of Markham, in its role as Steward of Swan Lake Park , to immediately address the poor water quality issues in Swan Lake , to establish a comprehensive Environmental Plan for the Park and Lake that addresses all environmental issues and to establish a Stewardship Policy for the Park and Lake that includes a sustainable Restoration Program and a monitoring framework that will trigger timely remedial responses in the future.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
We want to demonstrate the community value of Swan Lake Park by celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day on April 18 2020. We also need funds to support our efforts to convince the City of Markham to establish a long term sustainable environmental plan for Swan Lake and Swan Lake Park.

Your support is important not only to us but to the all current and future residents of Markham that will benefit from a robust bio-diverse environment within Swan Lake Park.
