Help Save Tasia: Abby's Beloved Horse

Donation protected
Abby and Tasia are a team and have been through thick and thin for the past seven years. Now Tasia is in a medical crisis. Tasia had a fever for a couple of days early this week. The vet came out and thought it might be a tick borne disease. He went to administer the last dose of medication the morning of 5/24. She was leaning on the wall in the stall because she was having difficulty staying up and balancing on her legs. Her eyes were fluttering back and she was having a neurological episode. She was rushed to the U so they could start her on a bunch of different medications and do testing to try to figure out the reason for all of this and save her life. They will likely be doing a spinal tap test along with all of the other tests. The expenses are currently expected to surpass $10,000 and go as high as $15,000. If you’re unable to offer financial support at this time, your prayers are greatly appreciated as well. This is a heart-wrenching time for my sister because of the amount of love she has for her horse and everything they have been through together. Thank you for considering a donation to help in the efforts to treat and save Tasia.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported and prayed over my sister Abby and her horse Tasia. We are truly grateful! We are amazed at how generous people are and how people have showed up to help and support.

UPDATE

Tasia is still currently in isolation at the U and has been diagnosed with EHV-1 infection resulting in EHM. This isn’t the news we were hoping for. It means quarantine for Tasia until she tests negative. It is a disease that had to be reported to the state and Abby will be in communication with them regarding the rules going forward. It is an expensive and serious diagnosis.

The good news is that the vets at the U are pleased with how Tasia is doing so far and how she is responding to medication and that she has improved. There were certainly no guarantees during the first week or so.

Abby greatly appreciates continued prayers over Tasia and this challenging situation. Your support and kind words have meant the world to her!
