Help Save the Charlemont Inn
Donation protected
The Charlemont Inn has been an active Inn and historic landmark in the town of Charlemont since 1775 with few interruptions - such as World War II and extensive renovation for the past 7 years.
Many, many figures from our history including Mark Twain, General John Burgoyne, Calvin Cooledge, Ethan Allan and Benedict Arnold were all guests who have walked on the same floors that all of our 20th century guests have walked.
Due to unfortunate circumstances and the need of constant updates due to building codes, we have been struggling to open for the last few years. We are so close to the goal of reopening the Inn by New Years Eve but we need your help.
What started as a project to save the inn has become a battle to protect our real estate property rights.
Charlotte has been battling to reopen the inn and has poured all of her personal savings in for countless projects. We are grateful for the help and support that we have received from friends in the Charlemont Inn community and are looking to make one last push to get the inn up and running.
If we aren't successful in raising this funding, the town of Charlemont will take the inn and all that we have worked so hard for in the last few years will be lost.
A few of the restoration projects that we have completed since the last time you have heard from us:
- Catering kitchen renovated and ready for catering
- Exterior painted and weather proofed
- Completed basement renovations and drainage system
Once the first floor phase is open and completely renovated, it will include the tavern, dining room and banquet room.
The Inn has been on the National Historic Register since 1987.
If all goes as planned, we hope to see you New Years Eve for some celebratory drinks. We hope to be able to continue serving the community that we hold so dear.
We are reaching out to anyone able to help, we are so close to our goal, and would be eternally grateful for your financial assistance.
