Help save the Historic Howells Opera House
Donation protected
Due to structural damages to some of the roof trusses supporting the auditorium ceiling of the Historic Howells Opera House, the Oakley Valley Arts Council has had to temporarily close our doors once more. If you have ever had the opportunity to experience the magic or tears that have been created on this beloved stage as a cast, crew or as an audience member you know how hard of a decision this closure was! However, the safety of our cast and audience members are of greater importance.
At this time we are waiting for a response to a grant application from the Idaho Heritage Trust to help with the needed repairs for the ceiling. Grant funds awarded require matching funds donated by community members and friends of OVAC. The Oakley Valley Arts Council needs your help gathering the necessary funds to complete the needed repairs. We, as you, miss the beautiful stage and music that this Theater brings to our community and hope to raise $50,000.00 to repair the ceiling. Any remaining funds after the structural repairs to the ceiling are finished, will be used for maintenance to keep this building safe and functional. Once the repairs are completed we will again hear, “Overture, lights, curtain up!”. Any donation would be very much appreciated, and the sharing of this link is highly encouraged. There truly is “No Business Like Show Business.” With that said…..the show must go on!
Update. We have made progress on this project! We have been given a couple of matching grants and through generous donations have raised over $90,000.00! We still have a long way to go as the estimated costs will be closer to $350,000.00. Any donation goes a long way, and we couldn’t do it without you! Thank you for all that you've done. We can’t wait to see you once again when we can safely open our doors!
