Help save THE SOUND DECISION recording studio

Hello everyone, my name is Lenny Bunn but most know me as “Step”. Though this makes me very uncomfortable, I need to ask the community for help. A little over 10 yrs ago, I moved my recording studio/production company to San Luis Obispo CA after 20+ years of working in Los Angeles. I knew that relocating to a smaller town, with reduced clientele and just all-around less visibility would present some obvious challenges. But I leaped, and with much-needed help from a few awesome humans, The Sound Decision was built! The potential for the studio in this new location was felt almost immediately. Once word got out, The music community responded, and a steady workflow began.

Unfortunately, after several good years of working, and building clientele, things were completely derailed by the Global Pandemic.

In 2020 and 2021 the business was hit hard! - The studio was closed to the public, and for 2 yrs there was virtually no work. The company didn’t receive government funds/support so I relied on my savings, side jobs and credit cards to push through, but it wasn’t enough. As of now, there’s significant debt that will need to be addressed immediately to maintain the lease on the current location. There is also a need for advertising and updated equipment. Although the studio re-opened when the pandemic ended, I haven't been able to get caught up on some of the bills and debt that accumulated during the lockdown.

On the upside, business is beginning to pick up sparking a desire for expansion as new requests are coming in for upcoming studio time and other various production projects!

The Sound Decision was designed to be a creative multi-media workspace for artists of all ages and backgrounds.

My goal and intention is to continue to provide a professional and nurturing environment for artists from this and other communities who would normally only be able to access this type of resource in a larger metropolitan area.

So much love went into the creation of this studio. Wonderful friends donated their time, effort and great ideas. It was truly a humbling collaborative experience that I'll never forget. We built a very cool place that I and others would hate to lose.
