Help preserve the stingless bee and support indigenous women
Donation protected
Hola Hola !
I am very happy to share with you that I am collaborating with Dr. Rosa Vásquez Espinoza and Amazon Research International (https://www.amazonresearch.org/) on a very special project in July 13-14, as well as in July 22-31, 2024.
Amazon Research International’s aim is to help conserve the Amazonian biodiversity and indigenous knowledge through conservation initiatives and campaigns, scientific discovery, interdisciplinary educational experiences, and empowerment of native communities and leaders.
For the specific project, they are running multiple workshops in Loreto (northern Amazon) and Junín and Cuzco (central and Southern Amazon) for approximately 250 indigenous women. The workshop is to provide the women with the tools in order to build an economy around the stingless bee honey production. This is paramount for the ecosystem for 2 reasons:
-Stingless bees pollinate much of the Amazon's flora, and the aim is to build a self sustaining economy around them we can help fight climate change
-By supporting these communities, we can empower the women to keep these beehives and give them access to a steady income.
Each bee box costs around 20 pounds, we already have 50, so we need 200 more. I hope you can support us, as we have a deadline of the 10 of June in order to buy and ship everything!
If you are curious, the New York Times recently published an article around Amazon Research International and Dr. Rosa' work. you can find it here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/30/science/amazon-stingless-bees-honey.html
