Update on Trasno 26/06/2025
Dear friends,
After a long and emotional week, today brought us some clarity and, we hope, the beginning of the end of this exhausting chapter.
We’ve had detailed discussions with Trasno’s veterinary team, and based on their expert advice, we’ve made the difficult but hopeful decision to proceed with surgery tomorrow, 27 June 2025. The CT scan results and clinical signs point toward a pulmonary abscess with infection, which may be treatable with surgical removal. While this diagnosis still needs to be confirmed through testing after surgery, it offers a real and meaningful chance at recovery.
Medical management was not recommended in Trasno’s case, as it carries too many risks and uncertainties, especially given that the mass could also be something more serious, like a necrotic tumor. Waiting or trying medication first could make him less stable for surgery later. We’re following the route that offers the best possible outcome, while staying fully aligned with what has always been our absolute priority: Trasno’s wellbeing, comfort, and quality of life.
Trasno is stable this evening and resting at home, surrounded by love. He’ll go in for surgery in the morning. We are doing everything with care, compassion, and under the expert guidance of his medical team.
We can’t fully express how grateful we are for the outpouring of support we’ve received. Your donations have helped make this next step possible, but beyond that, your kindness, messages, and encouragement have truly kept us going. We have felt accompanied in every moment of fear and decision-making.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. We’re holding on to hope, and tomorrow, we’ll do our very best for Trasno.
With all our love and deepest thanks,
Alba & Javier
Update on Trasno 24/06/2025
Today we received the results of Trasno’s CT scan, and it was not what we were hoping for—there is a tumor in his left lung. He’s home tonight, resting peacefully and surrounded by love.
Our absolute priority is that Trasno does not suffer. We are being guided every step of the way by the vets at Medivet to ensure we go as far as it makes sense, always with his wellbeing at the centre of every decision.
Tomorrow he’ll undergo further tests, including a cytology and biopsy, which will cost an additional £593.98. In total, we’ve already spent £6,177.72 on his care.
We’re doing everything we can for him and are so grateful for your support. Every bit of help—through kind words, donations, and shares—means the world to us and to Trasno.
With love and thanks,
Alba & Javier

Help save Trasno: Urgent Treatment needed for our cat’s life-threatening infection.
Hi friends, colleagues, and kind strangers,
our beloved cat Trasno is fighting for his life. He has been hospitalised for a few days (Medivet Kensington Hospital 24h), placed on oxygen, performed a thoracentesis, and gone through days of tests and intensive care as his condition worsened dramatically. After much uncertainty, we finally have a clearer cause: Trasno has a severe bacterial infection, likely with an internal abscess that may need urgent surgery to remove. He is now being stabilised so that he can start targeted antibiotic treatment as soon as the bacteria is isolated.
To move forward and save his life, he urgently needs a CT scan to locate the abscess and determine if surgery is possible. If we can act fast, there's a real chance of recovery.
Why we need your help?
We have already spent over £2,000 on emergency hospital stays, scans, bloodwork, and tests. The next steps are essential... but very expensive.
We have two possible treatment paths:
-Specialist surgical centre at Queen Mother Hospital for Small Pets just outside London (~£10,000):
This includes a CT scan and surgery in a specialist clinic. It offers the best chance for survival.
-CT scan at a branch hospital +follow up treatment (~£6,000):
This is a more affordable option, but will not include specialist surgery. He will be transferred by ambulance to perform the CT scan and then back to Medivet Kensington. It still gives him a chance, but with more uncertainty.
We're asking for help to cover the £10k needed to give him the best possible care. We will share medical bills for transparency. In case there is any unspent money, we will donate it to a similar cause or causes.
Why are we crowdfunding?
My partner and I both are immigrants in the UK, from working-class families and no safety nets. Alba is a biomedical researcher on a fixed-term contract ending in August, with no new role secured yet.
We’re facing the kind of emergency you can’t prepare for, and we’re doing everything we can to give Trasno the care he deserves.
About Trasno
Trasno is more than a pet: he’s love at first sight, our child, our daily joy, our constant presence through ups and downs, lockdowns, relocations, and personal challenges. He’s gentle, playful, talkative, and full of character. We adopted him as a sick kitten nearly nine years ago, and he’s been healthy and happy ever since, until now.
We truly believe he still has fight in him. If there’s a chance to save him, we want to take it. And if you can help, in any way — through a donation, a share, a kind word — it means the world.
With love and deepest thanks,
Javier & Alba
