Help Save Tux's Leg!

About two weeks ago Tux had a pretty decent sized wood chip that was lodged in his paw removed after a mountain bike ride (he's pretty talented). It has been getting progressively worse to the point where the vet I had been seeing thought that leg amputation was probable. Needless to say, we got the hell out of there as fast as possible and have landed in much better hands. That comes with a price of course. And saving Tux's leg is going to take intensive care for the next few weeks. He's already undergone three different surgeries and the healing hasn't even started yet.
If you know me you know that I am THE WORST at asking for help, let alone money (I'm working on it). But, as a starving, mostly self-employed, grad student, I'm not sure what other options I have. Based on expenses thus far and future estimates from my new, amazing vet, I'm estimating it will be upwards of $7000 all said and done. Ouch. I've learned my lesson and have purchased pet insurance, however they don't cover pre-existing conditions (obviously...).
Tux has taught me so much about life and love. I've grown alongside him these past two years. Making him happy each day brings me more joy than I could have imagined. He has a long healthy life ahead of him and I am confident that he will overcome this with time and love. I am grateful for anything you are able to contribute, whether that's sending good vibes our way or $5, it all adds up!

PS: I have a really gruesome pic of the foot, so if you're into that sort of thing I can send it your way. But as a courtesy I thought I would spare those of us who faint at the sight of blood.
