Help Save Viola’s One Remaining Kidney

My name is Blaine Altidor and I am the youngest child of Viola Altidor. I am a resident of Broward County, Florida raising funds on behalf of my mother. One hundred percent (100%) of the funds collected will be used to cover her medical bills.
My mother Viola Altidor has spent her entire life on the beautiful island of Hope Town, Abaco. She is the proud mother of four sons and one daughter and has worked at the Abaco Inn as a chef for the last 20 years. She loves making people smile through her tasty cuisine.
In 2014 she was rushed to Nassau, Bahamas from Abaco because of severe abdominal pain. Through a battery of tests, it was discovered that she had multiple right kidney stones blocking the passage of urine. Emergency surgery was performed to place a tube to relieve the blockage on the right side. Within six months, she developed a very bad infection in the same kidney, and it had to be removed. She returned to work weeks later ever so grateful to be alive. My mother was careful with her diet, exercise and followed every instruction given by the doctors.
In 2020, she once again had to be rushed out of Abaco due to very bad stomach pains. Mom was still dealing with the emotions of nearly losing her children and everything that she owned in Hurricane Dorian. We dreaded the possibilities of what might have caused this pain. Our worst fears became a reality. The left kidney, the only one that she had left was infected and blocked with stones. Her blood count was low, and she had to received blood. It was a roller coaster. A tube was placed to drain urine from the left kidney. The tube had to be changed every six months or she risked developing infections and losing her only kidney. With Covid-19, no surgical elective dates were given, equipment not being available, etc., mom started to go into kidney failure.
My family and I have organized medical fundraisers and have spent all that we had to pay for the tube changes at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida making every attempt to save the “one kidney left”.
My mother would like the opportunity to continue to work and enjoy her two grandsons in Abaco but if the tube isn’t changed every six months, she will inevitably lose the only kidney left.
Presently, her remaining bill is $150K. We thank you in advance for your prayers and donations.
