Yesterday my bestfriend of 10 years my baby and love of my life, my dog Willow was bit by a rattlesnake in our backyard. She is a beautiful American bulldog with a vibrant personality. She loves spending the afternoon chasing lizards in the backyard and evenings cuddling with us.
As soon as she was bit around 3pm we rushed her to the emergency after hour vet hospital. Since it was a Sunday night. This whole situation is extra hard and heartbreaking with covid since they won't let you be with your animal. While at the vet they gave her a total of 3 antivenims which she still continued to decline and swell. Her throat became swollen and as of 11pm last night they have had a tube in her throat and are keeping her sedated. Come to find out this is only a weekend emergency hospital and she had to be medically transfered to another facility at 7am this morning. When I checked out this morning I was charged $7,000 for their care and $1200 for the transfer. Once she was assessed at the new hospital they have estimated another $12000 to $18000 for around the clock care for 24 to 48 hours. There are no garentees and she remain in critical condition. However we are not willing to give up on Willow. The vet does not take payments so we are going to max out credit cards and do what we can but we need help. So anything would be greatly appreciated.
