Help Save Winston: Urgent Medical Care Needed

On Thursday, October 10th Laikyn and Derek noticed that their beloved dog Winston was not acting like himself. Thankfully they trusted their gut and took him to the emergency vet where they discovered he is anemic and his red blood cell count was so slow that it required a blood transfusion. There are other health concerns that they are monitoring as well, so after the transfusion he was moved to the internal medicine unit for 24/7 monitoring. He was diagnosed with a disease called IMHA that can be life threatening to dogs and if these treatments aren’t successful, Laikyn & Derek are going to be using the money to create a scholarship in Winston’s name to help others batt,ing with this unexpected and extensive disease.

As you can imagine this has been extremely difficult time for Laikyn, Derek and their new puppy Remi. They’re taking it day by day, but could really use some support right now. The life saving procedures they performed on Winston, and the cost of his continued stay, has put an unexpected financial burden on their family. If you know Laikyn and Derek you know they are fiercely independent people, but sometimes life takes a village!
