Help School Can't Australia

School Can’t Australia Ltd (SCA) is a national parent/carer peer support community. Established in 2014 by a parent, to fill a gap in dedicated support services for parents and carers who were supporting children and young people experiencing school attendance difficulties. In 2023 SCA became a registered company and is currently awaiting registration as a charity. SCA's board of directors has been working hard behind the scenes to establish it as a not for profit organization and develop a strategy so we can fulfill our aim to become the national peak body and support service for Australia.

As we continue to grow and move into our next decade we need your support, so we can continue to empower and advocate by:

• Offering peer advice and support for parents.

• Sharing general information, resources and advice on issues related to school can’t.

• Providing a dedicated space for connection and support.

• Enhancing parent/carer well-being.

• Advocating for the needs of parents, carers, children and young people.

• Collaborating with researchers and policymakers to improve the system and the outcomes for our children.

• Raising awareness and creating shared understandings of school can’t.

SCA is currently unfunded and run completely by volunteers. These volunteers are also parents and carers of children and young people who struggle with school attendance. Many of our volunteers have qualifications in allied health and teaching. As we are experiencing School Can't with our own children, we can relate, and we know how stressful it can be to access support, and to care for a child or young person who struggles with going to school.

The SCA peer support Facebook group currently has more than 11,000 members, with over 2300 on our wait list. Sustained rapid growth means we urgently need to build our capacity. Some very generous members of the SCA community have expressed their willingness to support us through donations. This has inspired us to launch this GoFundMe Campaign.

How will we use your donations?

Your donations will most immediately help us cover the management and operational expenses of SCA and allow us to pursue more long-term and stable funding sources. Donations will also enable us to develop education resources sharing our group's lived experience knowledge, which will allow us to admit members more quickly and support more parents and carers.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help SCA take off and achieve it's goal of becoming the peak body for School Can't issues in Australia.
