Help Scott and Anna Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
The home of my brother Scott, my sister-in-law Anna, and their six pets was destroyed in the Alexander Mountain Fire. We need your help so that they can rebuild their life in Colorado.
After their mandatory evacuation, Scott and Anna drove seven hours south with six pets in tow, arriving to my family's house at 2am. After a nerve-wracking week, a county official called with miraculous news: their house was untouched by the flames. Scott and Anna were elated; they drove back home the next day, excited to get a pizza and hang out with their pets.
Around 4pm, my mother texted Scott and asked how the house was.
Scott texted back: they lied.
They were met only with wreckage.
We were, and are, devastated. Scott and Anna returned to Santa Fe that night.
Scott is a programmer and Anna is an artist. The fire destroyed a mountain home they had lovingly repaired and improved outside Drake, Colorado. They lost three pets, all their belongings, and the only copy of a collaborative fantasy game they had built together for 12 years.
It appears that Scott and Anna's insurance company will pay for a portion of their living expenses and contribute towards a future home, but they will likely be stuck paying a mortgage for a home that no longer exists on a fire-scarred lot. Scott's work requires him to visit the office twice per week, so they are now scrambling to relocate in the expensive Denver metro region.
The funds you contribute will help them replace their belongings, cover travel expenses as they commute between Santa Fe and Denver, and alleviate the financial burden of their mortgage and property taxes.
We would be honored by your support.
Thank you so much.
