Help Scott B Mackay Rebuild His Creative Life

My name is Scott B Mackay and I am a musician, woodworker, handyman and audio tech. The other night while out DD’ing for a friend’s birthday party someone broke into the car I was renting and stole my backpack, which was a recent gift. Inside were my laptop, iPad, an art sketch book and an external hard drive. While those are just things, they contained years of hard work, preparation and practice toward live music performance, filming, recording, production, editing and drawing. If you know me, you know I’m a person with pretty simple needs and desires and unfortunately that means a lot of my life centered around what was contained in that backpack. I play music for yoga classes every week with that iPad, I create songs with that iPad, I play my live solo shows with that iPad, I’ve been creating patches and drum kits for years on that iPad, I’ve recorded hundreds of live performances with that iPad. The computer was newer and so it had less contained within it but was still the center of my current recording, production and editing work and contained my current projects, plugins and software that will need to be replaced and music either re-recorded or scrapped and forgotten. The external hard drive contained years of footage, old music and memories from my life, my cross country road trip, my music videos, my old artwork that had been scanned or photographed and I’ll never have any of those back again. The sketchbook was the place where I really sat and focused my energy toward trying to become a better artist and drew portraits of friends and customers at old coffee jobs and watched as my skills improved and made snapshots of people I truly cared about and have fond memories of but, with some, no pictures. These pieces of work and the contents of these items are truly irreplaceable and I am heartbroken and grief stricken to have to simply let all of that go. In the wake of that loss I am simply asking for some aid to get back to work doing the things I love the most. I am asking for donations to help me replace the iPad, laptop, maybe backpack and help cover the cost of replacing the window and whatever else the rental company may charge me for. I’m more than happy buying used technology as the computer was purchased used and I was more than happy and my iPad was now 7 years old. I’m still mostly in shock from this happening but this puts a big wrench in the gears of the already less monetarily successful part of my life, my creative ventures, but they are also part of my life that gives me so much deep satisfaction and fulfillment and that I have committed myself to regardless of any financial outcome. I work many different jobs to string together a life that is decent and of value to those around me and I do my best to be a reliable, trusted and faithful collaborator and friend to those I work with and for. My creative work is so central to my wellness, my life and my daily practice and I create and perform in spaces where that work is ideally equally giving and fruitful to those who hear it and experience it. If you are willing and able to contribute anything toward assisting me beginning to rebuild I would be eternally grateful and appreciative. Thank you so much for your time and I hope to see you soon and get a hug
