Help Scott get from Argentina to Maine

Dear Friends:

I have lived in Argentina since 2014, and teach English here as a second language. People ask me all the time whether I miss life in the United States, and of course I do, but I love Argentina, and I value many things this wonderful country has to offer, especially many of the wonderful people who live here. Lately, though, I have been feeling this incredible longing to return to the States, and to this one place in particular, this boys camp where I spent several incredible summers as a child learning about love and about life and about home.

Ironically, the concept of feeling homesick is something very familiar to people who know summer camps. It is quite common for children away from home often for the first time to feel very uncomfortable, and to miss their parents and their daily lives and routines. My deep longing at the moment is just the opposite…to have a chance to get back to the State of Maine to a place called Owatonna. There, on the first weekend of September, 2021, a camp reunion is happening, celebrating the 100-year anniversary. In order to finance a round-trip plane ticket and various other expenses, I need to ask for your help.

As a photographer, I know and believe the old cliché that a picture tells a thousand words. And I have thousands of pictures of the beautiful people and place that give glimpses of how incredibly special a place it is. This GoFundMe page now provides me an opportunity to share some of those images, and I hope to keep adding more and more as the days go by.

I don't want you to feel sorry for me. I want you to feel happy for me that I have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and to want to be a part of the celebration by contributing to my trip … if you can and you want to.
