Help Scott Mathison through this difficult time.

Hello, we are Brianna and Amber, the daughters of Scott Mathison. Since the beginning of this year our dad has been pretty sick; resulting in numerous visits to the ER, lengthy hospitalizations, several different diagnoses/misdiagnoses and medications, none of which have helped him to feel or get any better, and actually made him feel worse. Finally in July, our father’s medical team at Noran Clinic of Neurology was able to get his medical case accepted by doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN

After traveling to the Mayo Clinic, with long hotel stays, lots of tests and appointments, as well as a long hospital stay at Mayo, we finally have some answers. Our dad has been diagnosed with CNS (Central Nervous System) Vasculitis, which is a very rare auto-immune disease, which less than 3 people out of one million get. There is no cure for this, but it is treatable. The course of treatment that has been chosen for our dad is high-dose steroids and Cytoxan pulse therapy (chemo).

Our dad is a very brave and strong man and is ready to fight through this! We are so blessed for the family and friends that we have, who have truly been amazing and so supportive. We could not be more grateful for the medical teams at the Mayo (clinic and hospital) in Rochester, that are helping our dad to get better.

Our dad has been out of work since March and is unable to drive, due to how debilitating this disease has been on him. It is unclear when he will return to work, due to the intense treatments that are required during the next several months. In addition, with our mom being by his side during all the hospitalizations and taking him to countless appointments, but more so to help navigate through all the overwhelming amount of information at these appointments, she has run out of PTO.

In an effort help ease some of the financial burdens that our parents have incurred and continue to incur, we are sharing this story in an attempt to raise funds to help with cobra insurance costs, medical and travel expenses and with the loss of income.

We would greatly appreciate any assistance that anyone is able to give to help our family during this difficult time, as asking for financial help like this is not something my family does. Thank you.
