Help Scott Moore Get Back on His Feet (literally)

Scott's Story: I will share some background information to help you understand how I got where I am today. Back in 1999, I made the decision to donate a kidney to a friend of a friend. It was a choice driven by compassion and the desire to make a positive impact on someone's life. Fast forward to 2016, I was diagnosed with stage 4 head and neck cancer. I received radiation and chemotherapy as treatment, however, the treatments took their toll on my remaining kidney, leaving me with a weakened immune system.
Recently, on Friday, March 1st, while at work, I began to feel unwell. Testing revealed that I had influenza B. Despite resting over the weekend in an attempt to recuperate, my condition deteriorated. On the morning of Monday, March 3rd, I fell and hit my head. I was taken to the emergency room, where I was diagnosed with influenza B and a concussion. I was hospitalized for observation and underwent various tests. Unfortunately, one of the tests indicated that I have developed Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that can occur as a complication of certain viral infections, such as influenza B. This syndrome affects sensation and mobility, starting from the toes and progressing up the body. At this time, I am experiencing loss of feeling from the knees down. I am currently undergoing treatment through infusions and physical therapy in hopes of regaining my mobility.
I am approaching this challenge with the same determination and resilience that I have always displayed. My current circumstances require the use of a wheelchair, as well as continued physical therapy, in-home care, and paid transportation service. Any support that you give will help me get back on my feet (literally). If I have additional funding that I don't need in my recovery, I will donate it to the Smithville Education Foundation.
