Help Scouts of Troop 612 & 2612 Thrive
Donation protected
Camping, whether monthly campouts or a week-long summer camp, provides scouts with memories of a lifetime and outdoor skills for life!
Scouting has been a large part of the San Lorenzo and San Leandro community. Troop 612 first started in San Lorenzo at San Lorenzo Community Church and now celebrates 70+ years of scouting. In 2019, when Boy Scouts of America registration was opened up to girls, our Chartering Organization established a female troop, Troop 2612. We are pleased to share that Troop 2612 had the FIRST female scouts to achieve Eagle Rank in our District! When our meeting place got sold, the troops were then sponsored by St. Felicitas Catholic Church, San Leandro, where we now meet.
The Troop continues to teach youths essential leadership and outdoor skills. We meet in person, camp on a monthly basis, and attend to summer camp yearly. Due to the pandemic, we lost a significant number of scouts. With a smaller troop, our fundraising ability and finances are adversely affected.
We would like to ask for your financial support. Your donation will allow us to update our cooking and camping equipment as well as provide scholarships to scouts who need financial support for summer camp.
Quotes from Scouts:
“I remember the time we did a tug-of-war, 7 scouts against the Scoutmaster and another leader. I still can’t believe we lost!”
“We went camping at Tracy Wildlife Association during a heatwave. It was so hot that we stayed under the trees to keep cool. It was fun just hanging out and playing cards.”
“Snow camping at Arnold's was fun! I have never been to the snow before. We slept outside in freezing cold weather, drove to the snow, and went sledding.”
“At last year's camporee at Los Mochos, we got a chance to do axe throwing. It was a lot of fun! I have never thrown an axe before.”
Thank you for your support of Scouts and the scouting program.
