Help Sean Adkins battle 2 types of Leukemia

Donation protected
My name is Wendi, and I have created this GoFundMe to help alleviate some of the financial burden that my brother Sean Adkins has accumulated due to having 2 types of Leukemia. Sean was diagnosed with 2 rare forms of Leukemia (Actually Myeloproliferative neoplasm, blood Cancer, which falls under the umbrella of Leukemia and is easier to explain that way) after suffering a massive heart attack on 8/11/2019. He had 100% blockage of his right coronary artery stemming from a blood clot. The doctors ran tests and found that he has a mutation of his JAK2 gene at the time of 5% which caused him to develop Essential Thrombocitosis, and Polycythemia Vera in almost equal amounts.
He started Chemo (pill form) immediately. These two types cause him to be extremely susceptible to blood clotting, and his blood to be the consistency of used motor oil. These cancers can kill him by causing a clot to form in his heart or brain. During the time since, he developed a mass on his left kidney, and he had to fight the doctors inaction and health insurance bureaucracy to get a biopsy for almost a year. In that time, the mass grew from the size of a pea, to that of a large marble. The biopsy was done 2 years ago 4/21. The results were benign, however the oncologist didn’t agree. He was worried that since it grew so large, so fast, in such a relatively short amount of time that the biopsy result could be a false negative.
The oncologist wanted to do imaging every 6 months (MRI with and without contrast, and ultrasound). During this time, the mass continued to grow. In December of 2022, Sean’s kidney functions spiraled down. More tests were done. 3 different imaging tests. The mass has now become a solid renal mass. In a normal healthy person, they would have a 15% chance of it not being Renal Cancer. Sean is not so lucky. Another biopsy was ordered and the doctor doing the biopsy demanded an MRI before performing the biopsy. Through bureaucratic ineptitude, the MRI was scheduled and canceled by the hospital system 5 times. Each time, the MRI was canceled because the ‘paperwork’ was done incorrectly.
The biopsy was ordered January 2023, this is now April 2023. The nurse with the doctor ordering the biopsy told my brother the reason that he wanted the biopsy is because Sean has pre-existing Renal Cancer. The latest MRI was cancelled due to incorrect paperwork again, and they are now demanding Sean pay a $1,611.00 copay out of pocket at the time of the MRI. Sean is a tattoo artist, and his funds are drying up. The cost of the biopsy, as well as the cost of other future procedures is currently unknown at this time. He is fighting multiple cancers and doctors, health insurance, and inept paper pushers just to survive. He doesn’t want to leave a wife behind.
Any and every donation made would be such a huge help! And if you are unable to donate sharing this post would be so greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Wendi
