About Souhad and Her Family
In the face of tragedy, Souhad Mustafa and her family are fighting to survive. Their home is gone, and their belongings are lost to the wreckage and Souhad's husband's place of work was destroyed.
With two young children, Khalil aged 3 years and Darin aged 11 months, to care for, Souhad is struggling to keep them safe and healthy.
Without a stable income or savings to rely on, Souhad's family is on the brink of desperation. Their financial situation is dire, and they have nowhere to turn for help.
We cannot ignore their plea for assistance. Souhad and her family need our support now more than ever.
Organizer Note
My name is Ashley Ramos from Pittsburgh, PA and I am fundraising for Souhad Mustafa and her family who are currently in the Al Nuseirat Refugee camp in Gaza.
I first learned about Souhad's family when fundraising with a group of creatives in the city of Pittsburgh for Nadin Abullatif, who is Souhad's younger sister.
During our organizing, I got to know Nadin personally. Nadin has met her own fundraising goal and has now recognized a need for her sister to raise funds to secure the future of her family.
I have been corresponding with the family who has entrusted me with being the host of this fundraiser.
How Funds Will Be Used
The funds will be held by Ashley Ramos (the organizer) until they can be used to aid in the safe evacuation of Souhad's family.
Priority of the funds will go to having Souhad and her family's names added to allowed-to-exit lists.
To make it happen, they have to pay what's called "coordination fees" to get the names on the allowed-to-exit lists. As of February, these fees can be as high as 7000 USD per person or more. The money will be paid to a travel agency in Egypt called Hala, and it's the only way to get Souhad and her family's names on the list so they can be allowed to travel.
Read this article on how much Gazan's have to pay to flee the war.
Travel expenses through Egypt. ( Estimated 800 to 1000 USD).
Once the names are added to the allowed-to-exit lists, the family will need around 100 USD per person to reach out safely to Cairo.
Covering new life expenses with basic necessities after evacuation for 6-12 months. (Estimated 40K USD)
The majority of the amount is to cover life expenses for the next 6 to 12 months until they settle down. Egypt is very expensive and young children have a lot of needs. The funds will be transferred to the Souhad Family directly through available money transfer services in Egypt . (Moneygram, Western Union..etc).
The Situation in Gaza Now
In Gaza, we are witnessing an unfolding human tragedy of unimaginable proportions. Palestinians are grappling with the dire reality of starvation, compounded by a collapsed health system.
Every moment is a struggle against hunger for children, women, and men alike.
Day by day, parents embark on desperate quests for food, only to return empty-handed. Infant formula is a scarce commodity, leaving parents with no choice but to seek makeshift alternatives, ill-suited for their vulnerable babies. They watch helplessly as their children grow weaker before their eyes. You have an opportunity now to help a family escape this situation to safety.
Join us in making a difference for Souhad and her family today.
Your donation can make a real difference. With your help, we can provide Souhad with the means to find shelter and support her family's basic needs. Every contribution, regardless of size, will directly impact their ability to survive this crisis.
Let's stand together as a community and offer a lifeline to Souhad Mustafa and her children. Your generosity can provide them with the hope and security they so desperately need during this difficult time.
Please, donate today and help us provide urgent assistance to this family in crisis.
