Help Secure a Therapy Dog for Husband's Parkinson's
Donation protected
My husband has always had what's called an essential tremor (think Katharine Hepburn and her shaking). Over the last 3 years, he's had to stop doing his passion of horticulture and find work at a local high school in various jobs. During those years, he would do upkeep on the school grounds for weeding, plantings and pruning during his break, lunch, or after shift. Last June, he was let go. At the time, we both were upset and hurt, but now it seems like a blessing as his body quickly escalated into Parkinson's disease. Both his doctor and therapist suggest he get a therapy dog to help get exercise, strengthen his muscles, and provide mental health companionship.
A therapy dog is too expensive for us on one income, but a dog that he can train as one is something doable and a good outlet for my husband to focus on.
These funds would help to get a young dog or puppy, initial vet bills, food costs and training expenses.
