Mike Datka was part of the Dynamic Men's Group at St. Leonard and St Clare in Muskego, WI. If you are part of our group, you know about Mike. Mike epitomized the example of a "Man of Christ"-- servant leader, a great Catholic, loving husband, and an incredible father.
The first time I met Mike, he had already been battling cancer for several years--but his attitude was never anything but upbeat and positive. He actually wanted everyone to know that the cancer was a blessing--it brought everyone he encountered closer to God.
Mike knew that his days were likely numbered, but each day his faith seemed to grow stronger. While Mike always was quick to thank others for teaching him about their friendship with Jesus, it was always Mike that each of us wanted to emulate. If you didn't already see it, watch the YouTube of Mike at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KR8W2he1Lo&t=7s
Without a doubt, one of the most moving events of my 10 years as part of a Catholic Men's group was the night Mike brought his two young boys to our weekly meeting. He introduced Tanner and Connor, and then told them, "Look around you. This is what real men look like. As you grow up, use them as your role models." Mike was, and continues to be, an inspiration for us about what faith, family, and attitude is really about.
As a tribute to Mike's example as a servant leader, we have established this Go Fund Me page to raise funds for Tanner and Connor, his two young sons. 100% of the funds raised will be passed along to Gail for the benefit of the boys. (One of our DMG members has offered to cover the 2.9% GoFundMe fee up to the goal amount). If you have any questions, please contact Jerry Voors.
"Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or sick? I tell you, as you did it to the least of my brothers, you did it to me." Matthew 25:40
