Help SEIU 1199NW Rank & File Attend Labor Notes!

Hello!

We are Annalise, Marissa, and Justice, three active dues-paying rank and file members of the largest union representing healthcare workers in Washington State, SEIU 1199NW.

There have been some exciting organizing victories in our union in recent years, including a massive strike at Swedish, the addition of several newly organized clinics and hospitals, a handful of major wage increases, etc. We've all had a small part in these successes and hope to share what we have learned from those successes with other workers looking to achieve something similar in their corner of the world. Additionally, we're excited to learn from our colleagues across the labor movement how they have fought to raise the living standards of their workers in each of their respective industries. To both of these ends we plan on attending the Labor Notes Conference together in Chicago this year in just a few months from 4/19 - 4/21.

Seattle is very far from Chicago, so it's going to cost a lot of money for us to register, travel, and book a hotel for three days. Which is why we are humbly asking for your support to help reduce the financial burden of this opportunity for a few rank and file workers who simply wish to make greater contributions in this historic, steadily raising tide of radical labor action in our state, our country, and all around the world.

Cost breakdown:

- Flights are $391 x 3 people = $1173

- Registration is $140 x 2 people + $46 (reduced by scholarship) = $326

- Hotel is $215 x 3 nights = $651
