Help Send Anna to the Democratic National Convention

Hello! My name is Anna Banowsky, and I have been elected to serve as a delegate for Iowa at the Democratic National Convention. It is an honor to be selected as one of seven delegates representing Iowa's 1st Congressional District. Thank you to everyone who supported me this far.
For those of you who haven't met me yet, I'd like to introduce myself. I was born in Oklahoma, and raised near Seattle, Washington, before moving back to Oklahoma to earn my bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Oklahoma. I then moved to Iowa to attend graduate school. I am currently both a graduate student and teaching assistant at the University of Iowa, where I am pursuing a master's degree in anthropology, focusing on archaeology. During my time at the University of Iowa, I have made this great state my home, and I intend to live here for a number of years to come.
Besides being a graduate student, I am also a member of UE Local 896- COGS, the union for graduate workers at the University of Iowa; an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma; a member of the LGBTQ+ community; and the Democratic candidate for Iowa House District 92, a rural district currently held by a Republican! It is important to note that this fundraiser is separate from my campaign for the Iowa House, as attending the National Convention is a separate expense from campaign spending.
Having lived in several states, I know what makes each place special, and I know that the policies that are good for one state might not work in another. As a delegate for Iowa- and a resident of a rural county- I intend to make sure that the concerns of Iowa's 1st Congressional District are heard at the national level. All too often, the interests of rural America are excluded, and I would like to make a difference!
As a graduate student, attending this convention comes with significant expenses, including travel, accommodations, and meals. While I am sharing a room with another delegate, there is still a large amount that I need to cover in order to attend the convention. These expenses are out of reach with my current budget, which is why I am asking for your support.
I am reaching out to friends, family, and fellow Democrats to help me raise the $4500 that it will take to cover these costs. Any donation, no matter how big or how small, will make a significant impact.
- $5-10 would cover the costs of transportation between locations during the convention
- $20 would cover the costs of a meal during the convention
- $50-$100 would help cover the costs of hotel accommodations
- $200 would cover the cost of one night at the Hilton on Grant Park, where the Iowa Delegates will be housed for the duration of the convention
Thank you,
Anna Banowsky
