HELP send June to Junior Worlds!

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is June T. Rapisura and I am a junior at Franklin High School in South Seattle. I am an avid ultimate frisbee player and was recently invited to try-out to represent the USA at the World Junior Ultimate Championships. Last week I learned I made the team!!!

I started playing Ultimate Frisbee when I was in sixth grade at Asa Mercer Middle School. Since then, I have dedicated myself, heart and soul, to this sport because I fell in love with my “Soufend” Ultimate community, who taught me to embrace all parts of the Spirit of the Game. My deep passion for this sport has led me to develop a relentless work ethic to  perfect my craft. I also want to inspire the youth in my Soufend community, especially my younger sister, and show them that with this sport you can go far. I have been showcasing my hard work, talent, and what I learned about Spirit of the Game back when I started with Asa Mercer, on Seattle’s YCC team for four years, the club team Seven Hills, and my high school varsity team. This sport has become my life and my community.

To participate in this year’s junior worlds has always been a dream of mine. Many of my mentors and role models such as Henry Phan, Ivan Lee, and Khalif El-Salaam, who are also from the Soufend, have accomplished this goal. Growing up in South Seattle, in a low-income house, financial issues have always kept many members of my southend family from their dreams of competing in Ultimate at the highest level. As a working student athlete, I always had to help out financially;my dad works two jobs and my mom also works while struggling with some medical issues. I always knew money would be a barrier for me, and that every time I ran sprints after school instead of being at a job I was bringing in less money, but I refused to let this barrier stop me from achieving my goal!

It will cost $3,000 to participate in this year’s WJUC. Any donation, of any size, will help me in my goal of representing team USA at WJUC in Waterloo, Canada. Even if your aren’t able to donate, please help by sharing this post, as I would really appreciate that.

Thank you all so much,

June T. Rapisura.
