Help Send Liam to Represent the USA in São Paulo
Donation protected
Liam MacCurtin is a 19-year-old athlete with Down syndrome who lives in Media, Pa. Please join Liam and his teammates as they seek to make history! For years, the nations of the world have gathered for global soccer competitions specifically designed for athletes with Down syndrome to compete at the highest level of play. Until now, the US has not fielded a team at any of these international events.
This summer, Liam was selected to represent the US on the Down Syndrome Sports of America (DSSA) national team at the Down Syndrome Football America Cup in São Paulo, Brazil this fall. We are asking for your help to send Liam to São Paulo.
As the lone representative from Pennsylvania, Liam will join team members from around the nation to form the first-ever US national team for athletes with Down syndrome. The tournament will take place November 17-26 with teams from 8 countries (Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Uruguay, Chile and the USA) competing for the international cup.
In July, Liam attended the national team camp and tryout held in Glassboro, New Jersey. In August, after player evaluations were complete, Liam received the invitation from DSSA to join the national team.
Liam will be traveling with his dad, Brendan. All money raised beyond travel expenses will be donated to the Down Syndrome Sports of America, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to transforming the lives of athletes with Down syndrome. Your support will help put Down syndrome soccer firmly on the global map. Thank you for your support!
