Dear Community Members, Family, and Friends,
I am a passionate young singer from Saco, Maine, and I am greatly honored to have been accepted into the reputable Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artist Vocal Program this summer. I am writing to share this exciting news and ask for your consideration of sponsorship or contribution to this endeavor.
The Boston University Tanglewood Institute is a premier summer training program for talented young musicians. The Institute is located in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Lenox, Massachusetts, just down the road from the Tanglewood Music Center, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Tanglewood students have the opportunity to learn and grow through intensive programming in the presence of some of the world's greatest music professionals and teachers.
The six-week program encourages the development of gifted young singers pursuing professional studies in performance. I will have the chance to work on my performance skills and have classes in diction, music theory, music history, and movement/acting.
I’ve had the opportunity of participating as a soprano and soloist in numerous festivals at the District, All-State, All-Eastern and National levels, and have sung individually in local and regional voice competitions through Bay Chamber, NATS, and Schmidt Vocal Arts. This year, I’ve been recognized with the Senior Award from Young Stars of Maine and commended with 3rd place in the reputable Massachusetts regional Schmidt high school competition, qualifying for the national round.
In addition to performing, I am passionate about arts leadership. In my work as intern and teen program coordinator for Opera Maine, I have had the opportunity to connect with and learn from passionate supporters of artists within the Maine community.
While attending Tanglewood is a remarkable opportunity, it introduces a financial significance of $7,800 including both tuition and room & board. Looking towards my own educational pursuits, I carry the values of my family’s firm commitment to higher education. I have loved being active in the T.A. Art Department while taking on many Advanced Placement courses to jumpstart my college education, and I have been honored to receive acceptances of admission from Boston Conservatory, Oberlin College & Conservatory, and the Eastman School of Music, each presenting a generous merit award. I am looking forward to continuing my studies under the tutelage of Dr. Rebecca Folsom at my top choice of Boston Conservatory. The costs of attendance remain an investment, however I am dedicated to doing everything I can to make these opportunities - including the Tanglewood Institute - possible.
Please reach out to me with any questions or if you would like more information on the Tanglewood Institute or any of my other artistic endeavors!
I truly appreciate your consideration and support. Thank you!
