Help send Sophie to the World Scout Jamboree 2023

Hello

My name is Sophie, and I am 12 years old. I have been fortunate enough to have been selected to join scouts from all over the world at the 2023 World Scout Jamboree in South Korea.

Being part of this event is a huge honour, and I am very excited. I will be joining other scouts from Buckinghamshire to make up a unit as part of the UK contingent, and we in turn will join 40,000 scouts from all over the world at this amazing event!

To prepare for this trip I will join the other Buckinghamshire scouts for several training and team building events, where we will have the opportunity to develop our individual and group ideas and skills and get to know each other.

Joining so many young people from all over the world will allow us to learn from them, and hopefully teach them about our culture. I am hardworking and committed, and I know this opportunity will allow me to grow and mature personally.

I believe this life changing adventure will enable me to positively support others in the long term, as I bring back and share what I learn.

This opportunity is once in a lifetime, but to participate I need to raise around £1,800 in the next 18 months. I will be arranging local fundraising events, including cake sales, coffee mornings and craft fairs, as well as trying to recycle items and sell them via local online platforms.

I will work really hard to achieve this, but I will need help along the way which is why I have set up this gofundme page. If you can spare anything at all to help me move forward with my challenge, I would be truly grateful.

If I am fortunate enough to raise more than the amount I require through my various fundraising events, I will feed any extra back into our local Scout troop, 2nd Amersham on the Hill as we are currently raising funds to pay for our recently built scout hut which is a great community resource.

PS. I have included an image of some of the craft items I have begun to create. My intention is to have stock ready to sell next Christmas time, although if you see something you would like from my small current stock, please let me know as I am happy to get this to you for free if you have been kind enough to donate over £25 (I’m afraid that realistically this will however be delivered after Christmas unless you live locally!!).
