Help send Taryn to compete at the DECA ICDC in California!

Hi, my name is Taryn Streck and I’m a sophomore at Millis High School. I am fundraising to contribute towards the cost of traveling to the 2024 DECA International Career Development Conference. After competing at the state level, I’ve been selected to represent the Millis community and Massachusetts as a whole and advance to the ICDC, where I have the opportunity to compete against other DECA students from across the country and the world.

Millis High School’s chapter of DECA was started this year as Jacey Jakubowski’s senior project. I joined with the hopes of advancing my speech skills and growing my knowledge of business concepts. DECA is an international organization that promotes cultivating emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas. DECA hosts competitions at the district, state, and international levels. My strong performance at the district and state levels in the Business Services Marketing event has earned me the opportunity to go to the ICDC this year, which is in Anaheim, CA at the end of April.

I’ve enjoyed learning about business and marketing and putting my knowledge into action through DECA’s competition format of role playing business scenarios, such as acting as a consultant to design a creative plan to introduce a new line of products to a business, all while being evaluated by a judge in a timed interview and preparation period.

The cost of the trip will include transportation costs, hotel accommodations, conference fees, etc. for myself and a chaperone. Unfortunately, my school is unable to contribute towards these costs at this time, so participants must cover their expenses. The estimated cost of the trip is about $2,000.

I am asking for any financial assistance to help cover the costs of the trip and enable me to focus on the competitive aspects of this incredible opportunity instead of its heavy expense. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and support.
