Help send US to Rio

Donation protected
Hello,

Thank you for taking time to visit our page.

We (Solveig Imsdahl & Liz Euiler) are honored to have the opportunity to compete for the USA at the Pan American Game Qualification Regatta in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil November 29-December 2, 2018.

The Pan American Rowing Confederation recently made the decision to move away from automatic qualification spots to a qualification regatta for all countries hoping to compete at the 2019 Pan American Games. Through competing at USRowing Pan Am Trials (August 20) we now have the opportunity to represent the US in the women's pair (W2-) at the qualification regatta in Rio. Placing top 6 at this regatta will qualify the USA W2- and our spots on team USA to compete at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

While the Pan American Games in 2019 are fully funded, all travel and associated costs for qualifying in Rio first are completely self-funded. The chance to represent our country internationally is a goal and dream that we have been working towards for a long time and although the financial cost is quite high, we believe the opportunity is a worthwhile endeavor.

Our fundraising goals include roundtrip airfare, accommodation, boat rental, and VISA expenses. The projected total cost of our trip is $7540.

Breakdown per athlete:

Accommodation per athlete (paid to USRowing): $1500
Flight per athlete: $750
Boat and oar rental total: $2000
Travel VISA per athlete: $50
Vaccinations per athlete: $470

A donation of any amount is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping us get to Rio! Thank you again for taking the time to visit our page and read our story. We hope you will continue to follow our journey to Rio and hopefully on to the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru.

Even if you can’t donate, but are able to spread the word or share the link, it would mean a lot to us.

Sincerely,

Liz & Solveig

About the athletes:

Liz Euiler: I am currently a PhD student at Drexel University studying rehabilitation sciences (biomechanics). I also coach at Philadelphia City Rowing and Philadelphia Adaptive Rowing. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst (2011) with a BS in Kinesiology, and Brock University (2014) with a MS Applied Health Science (kinesiology). I began rowing at Winnipeasukee Rowing Club in Meredith, NH in 2003 and went on to compete on the varsity teams at both UMass and Brock. After Graduating Brock I moved to Philadelphia to pursue rowing full time at Vesper Boat Club with the goal of competing for US on the international stage. This will be my first time competing internationally and I am super excited to represent Vesper and the US in Rio!

Solveig Imsdahl: I learned to row/scull in Eutin, Germany when I was in high-school, before I was recruited to row and study in the US. After I graduated from Cornell in 2013, I moved to Philadelphia to continue training at Vesper, because I enjoyed training and wanted to see how far I could push my mind and body to be able to compete at a higher level. I’ve competed twice on the international level in 2011 and 2012 as part of the U23 lightweight US team.
I have taken up a few jobs to be able to support my training and keep my brain from deteriorating. With a part time job at the Children’s Hospital in the heart surgery department, I am able to use my medical knowledge from college. Another passion of mine is teaching (and playing) the piano to students of all ages and levels. I also work for Team Concepts as a coach and program manager to teach team-building and leadership to companies around the world.
