Help Serena Cross : COVID Victim
Hello, I'm David Ruckus and I'm fundraising for my good friend and fellow Underworld LARP Toronto player, Serena Cross.
Serena is a front line medical nurse in training and tested positive for COVID19 while working directly with COVID patients, as part of her nursing program. This alone would be bad, but Serena was doing this to help others and was NOT being paid for it. She was an unpaid intern as part of her training for nursing school. As a result, since she was not employed by any hospital, they will not pay her for the sick days needed as she fights to survive this COVID infection. I am both angry and sad that somebody who has volunteered their time to help battle this pandemic, working directly with the most vulnerable and in need of the most help, is left without aid in her own time of need. Neither our hospitals, nor our government can help her. So we have to.
She needs needs money for rent, food and to pay her bills and she is in dire need of it now.
Serena has been part of our Ontario LARP community for many, many years. if you don't recognize her face it's only because she's spent the last year working crazy hours training to become a nurse. She's sacrificed her free time and hobbies to fulfill this dream. I can't think of a more noble reason to help somebody out when all they have done is dedicate their lives to helping others.
Serena is a student, she has minimal savings, and definitely not enough to cover rent, bills and school needs without a paycheck from her part time job. Her family is trying to help her the best they can, but she needs some kind aid from us while she isolates and weathers a COVID infection. Imagine the stress of having to survive the next two weeks, with hospitals overflowing, potentially no beds or ventilators and then imagine also having to worry about how you're going to make rent on May 1st. We can help with that last bit.
the next couple weeks are going to be absolutely brutal for her. Please give what you can.
