Help Sergey Serve Ukraine

While many watch the coverage of the devastation from Russian attacks happening to citizens in Ukraine, others take action to serve.
Sergey Karachenets is one who has taken action and has been in Poland and Ukraine working to deliver critical medical supplies as well as other items needed to those impacted by the violence. A native of Ukraine and current Minnesotan, Sergey knew he had to do more than watch what was happening to families and children of his native country. His ability to speak Ukrainian is proving to be of great benefit, and he is learning each day the very real needs of the people. He is currently serving in a space that has been converted into a refugee support space.
From Sergey's updates:
"There are a thousand refugees at least that cycle through every day. There's food, drinks, medical/hygiene supplies, free transport to virtually any place in Europe, and information about all sorts of asylum/refugee programs available. It's by no means luxury. Beds can be a yoga mat on top of a pallet crate, covered by a sleeping bag blanket, if lucky there's a stretcher bed.
I've been extremely busy, there is too much to do. We try to focus on providing medical care and giving out meds, but anytime someone hears I speak Ukrainian the questions don't stop: "where is the train station, how do I get a Sim card, is there a bus to München?". Most importantly, I've been working to establish a communication and supply network. There is an overwhelming amount of supplies that enter Poland, but oftentimes they sit in warehouses and don't go where they need to be. That's what I'm trying to avoid. I've made some reliable contacts, and we deliver things precisely where they need to go. "
Sergey is leading and learning through this service in an inspiring way, and many have taken notice and have asked how they can help!
I am organizing this GoFundMe page so Sergey can continue to focus on the work in front of him while we plan for the needs and resources that remain critical for care. All donations will go to Sergey who will use the funds to secure, ship, and deliver critical supplies.
As an example, they are in much need of two (2) wound therapy units (approximately $4,000 each) as well as enough consumables for a month and added expenses to ship them overseas.
The need is great, and here is an example of a letter requesting assistance from a Ukraine hospital to Sergey. Address and other contact information redacted for safety purposes.
Medical supplies and equipment continue to be necessary for the wounded as well as those who have lost security through this crisis.
I am honored to serve alongside Sergey in our local Hamel Fire Department out of Minnesota, and I am joining him on April 3rd. Many people ask why I am going there at such a dangerous time. It's simple. At the Hamel Fire Department, we have a saying. "No fire brother or sister works alone." It's called a "2 in 2 out rule" as we watch each other's backs. Sergey is my firefighter brother and I will be assisting him in any way that I can, learning from his courage as he leads this timely action. We appreciate you giving any amount that you can to help this service in action.
Any donation, little or large is significant. Thank you for choosing to take action with a heart to help Sergey serve.
