Help Seth get around the city

Thank you everyone, we got the Whill and a ByAcre walker (it's carbon fiber, super light & functional) and they really have been helping me get around and most importantly help walk Lando sometimes.

Let me preface this by saying we are doing fine financially, my insurance is excellent, and we have a ton of support. It would take a number of things to happen for us to have any real financial challenges. Please please please do not feel any pressure to donate.

So why a GoFundMe?

#1- Many people have asked how they can help. Again, we don't really need the help and knowing people want to support us means so, so much. I am not so self-righteous to tell people to donate to a charity or something else instead.

#2- We are looking into getting a motorized scooter for me for out of the house (linked in the gofundme). again, we can afford it (and if we couldn't, there are cheaper options) but there seem to be differences between the models and this might make a big difference

#3- A lot of people have offered meals and other stuff and that is much appreciated but logistically seems tough; would plan on using this to, say, order delivery on a day we're just too tired to plan or cook, or a new xbox game for my next admission, etc. without having to hand wring my usual frugality.

Again, no pressure. And who knows what'll happen with treatments--I would love to be in a position to donate the chair & extra funds to others later.

The past year has been a hellacious journey for Seth. Starting in July he has been having progressive ataxia and dysarthia. Just this past month we finally have a diagnosis of paraneoplastic encephalitis from extragonadal seminoma.  He has started treatment and we are hopeful that we can stop the progression but it is not likely he will regain mobility. 

I’ve started this page specifically to raise money for a Whill Model Ci portable power wheelchair.  I’m hoping this chair will allow Seth to be more independent and active outside of our home. We live in the city and just one block from Lincoln park but Seth’s walking is so unstable now that he is not able to get around very well and enjoy things just a few blocks away without driving. 

We are doing ok meeting the financial demands of everyday life and medical bills and we are so grateful to the friends and family that have helped support us already.  But we have had many people express a desire to help in some way so if that is you, please consider donating to this fund.

Any additional funds raised above the cost of this chair will be used for additional equipment or home changes to make Seth’s life easier and keep him as independent as possible.
