Help Shadow Recover: Support for Vet Bills
Donation protected
I've had my sweet boy Shadow since he was a kitten; he is now almost 2 years old. He has never really had any issues until earlier this year. In January, he had a little bit of a coughing fit. We took him to the vet, and our pet insurance covered all of the diagnostic testing, but they did not find anything. He has been fine since then, but last week he had another coughing fit, and he threw up this saliva/bubbly vomit, so I immediately took him to the vet again. This time, because we already had diagnostic testing this year, it was not fully covered. With all the full testing and prescribed medication, it came out to $1,410.16. They prescribed an allergy medication and some gastrointestinal wet food to help until they get the lab results back. As for now, they did not find anything wrong through x-rays or the check-up, and I'm hoping that his bloodwork/lab results come back fine.
I was able to cover the cost, but I'm now short for incoming rent and have started falling behind due to bills. I would even pick up a second job at this point, but I'm also balancing school, so it's not the easiest option for me right now. He also has an upcoming check-up on 11/25/2024, and I'm not sure if that will be covered or have any additional costs. I'm asking for only a portion of the costs so I could at least cover some of it.
He is the sweetest and silliest cat; any help is so appreciated. Thank you for reading or sharing!

UPDATE FROM 11/25: The vet said Shadows bloodwork tests came back negative and they didn’t see anything significant on the x-rays. Since his bloodwork he did lose another half pound and is now 8.20 lbs, totaling 2lbs of weight loss since January (he was over 10lbs). He has not coughed or vomited again since the medication was prescribed but they still want to keep an eye on him because of his weight loss. His next check up is on December 13th and they said if he continues to lose weight they want to do an ultrasound on him. They mentioned being concerned about his colon which looks “lumpy” and possibly could be gastrointestinal cancer causing the weight loss. This would be an additional $650 not covered by his pet insurance plan. I am just hoping he will be okay, my boy isn’t even 2 years old yet and it would kill me if he had cancer or any sort of sickness. Thank you for reading, sharing, and any other support.
