Help Shakeera's Family Rebuild Their Lives

Hello everyone, my name is Shakeera. My family and I relocated to the Moore/Duncan area from Florida. I transferred here for my job at Keurig/Dr Pepper, while my oldest children attend college nearby in Winston Salem and Hickory, and my youngest is attending James Byrnes High School.
We found a home off of Hwy 290 and lived there for a whole year. Life was going great until the morning of March 22, 2024. We were ambushed at our home around 5 am. Over 100 rounds of gunfire came soaring through every window. My youngest son was trapped in a corner of the bedroom trying to evade the gunshots as I low crawled through glass from the windows and mirrors. My husband was grazed by bullets three different times trying to get us to safety. All in all, we survived. We were told it was a case of mistaken identity and we weren’t the target….but now our life is in shambles
We thought we could manage being displaced from our home, but that is not the case. We have been in a hotel for a little over 60 days which costs 100 dollars a day, which is 700 weekly. So, we went from 1500 a month rent to 2800 and it is bleeding us dry. On top of car note insurance and more, we have tried to get assistance from the victim advocate but we weren’t injured enough for them to help us transition to a new place. We also called 211. We also attempted to get our deposit back from the landlord which she agreed to once we moved our belongings and then reneged due to scratches on the floor from glass and bullets as if the insurance wasn’t going to cover it.
- We are just needing help with deposit and first month's rent which is 1500 for each. Anything helps.
All fund will be use for deposit first months rent and moving cost like U-Haul lights and water….we are able to sustain but right now all are funds are going into this hotel
