Help Shane with rare heart tumor

Hi, my name is Jennifer and we are raising money for my beautiful 4-year-old nephew Shane.

Shane has a cardiac fibroma which is a rare tumor in the heart, with under 100 cases reported in the US.

Last Thursday our whole life was turned upside down. While at an indoor play place, Shane suffered sudden ventricular fibrillation which lead to cardiac arrest. Shane's mom Samantha performed CPR on her sweet baby boy and I am still in awe of how she did it. When first responders arrived they used a defibrillator and Shane was shocked 4 times. It was chaos and horror. First responders were able to get Shane's heart beating again. Shane is currently in Pediatric ICU at Cohen's Children's Medical Center where he is getting amazing care.

He is a miracle, V-fib is the deadliest arrhythmia of all with only a 17% chance of survival, and here is our strong boy breathing all on his own. Shane has gone through several tests while at Cohen's and our family is so happy to know that he lost no brain activity while he was unconscious. He is such a blessing. This week we will be transferring Shane to Boston Children's Hospital where Shane will undergo open-heart surgery to remove the tumor. He will be under the care of some of the very best pediatric surgeons and cardiologists in our Nation.

We are so thankful to the first responders that saved his life and to all of the family and friends that have shown us support over the past week and will continue to support us as we go through this challenging time.
