Help Shaniqua and Her 4 Girls Get a Home
Donation protected
It's currently -5 degrees in Minneapolis. As you sit in your warm home, imagine what it would be like to be homeless this winter. Now imagine trying to make it as a homeless, single parent to four beautiful girls, ages 10 and under.
This is the reality that Shaniqua has been living for months. On top of the stress and grief of the pandemic, she is under enormous pressure as she cares for her young kids and tries to secure them a safe place to live.
Recently, Shaniqua got the good news that she's been approved for an apartment. Finally, she and her kids can settle in each night knowing they won't have to move tomorrow. Finally, she can go to work and not worry about finding a new place to stay. Finally, her kids can focus on school and playing, just like every other kid.
But there's a catch. She needs to raise $2500 by March 1st to cover the security deposit and first month's rent. That's right--after working hard to keep her family afloat, and finding a home for them, she is still in danger of losing that hard-won security.
This is where YOU come in. Please give whatever you are able to help this family secure housing. $2500 is all that stands in the way of this young family having a home--a place to rest, a place to feel safe, a place where the girls can play and do homework and Shaniqua can cook them dinner in her very own kitchen. If we can't raise these funds, this family faces a long, hard winter. Let's not let that happen.
UPDATE:
Shaniqua is shocked by this outpouring of support. We've decided to leave this page up and increase the funding goal. She is starting from scratch, so all money beyond the initial $2500 will go toward getting her family set up in their new home. She is very thankful for all these generous donations!
