hi, i’m shanna. i’m a mentally & chronically ill/disabled tired internet person and i need yoooooour help!

in july 2021, my mom died suddenly. i cruelly lost my job only four (4) days later, along with my health insurance which i desperately needed for my severe and complex chronic mental health issues.

 

i have been physically and mentally unable to work a full-time job since then. i have been doing some online work when i can, but it’s certainly not enough to make ends meet, and i am not truly well enough to be productive. i’ve just been pushing myself past my limits and struggling through. mutual aid has truly been my lifeline.

 

i have extensive trauma and multiple severe and complex mental illnesses as well as chronic physical health problems, and i need expensive, lifelong mental health care in order to be functional.

i am working with my therapist and mental health team to apply for disability benefits but this will be a lengthy process, when i need immediate help. it also wouldn’t even be enough support each month to pay my rent, let alone everything else - so even then i would unfortunately still need help. the systems for disabled people to get help in this country are truly broken.

with all of this going on, bills pile up with little money coming in. i am struggling to be able to stay housed. i am struggling with my medical needs (health insurance does not cover all your needs!). i need community help.
