Help Shannon Fight Her Battle Of Cancer ❤️‍

UPDATE TIME ! August - October 2023: She had another transplant 2 months ago Car T Cell. She had already been through the 3 days of special lymphodepleting chemo and just low energy and fatigue from it. They put her T Cells back into her. They will then begin to start to attack the cancer cells and NOT her good cells. If this works, it will slow the cancer down and put her into remission. After 22 days in the hospital down in Philly with complications she was able to go home! Her levels still aren't good and all over the place with numbers. The chemo is done for now but not done forever. She goes for bloodwork weekly & she has to travel to her Philly Oncologist weekly for quite a while to monitor things. We will not know if this will put her in remission for a while yet. She is still very weak , hard time to walk / sleep & is often very sick with viruses. We just have to keep fighting & have faith that this will work in time.
So Please SHARE , SHARE , SHARE ! #hopeforshannon

UPDATE TIME ! April - June 2023: She has started a car t cell journey. She will have her t cells collected from her body through a process called Apheresis. After all is collected, they will be sent off to be genetically altered. It takes about 6-8 weeks for this process. In August she will then go back to have them placed back in her. She’ll be in philly in the hospital for about 20 days providing all goes OK with the side effects. These side effects this time are neurological. They are neurotoxins(yes very scary) along with the other side effects. The hopeful outcome of this is that when they put the t-cells back into her, they will then target JUST the Myeloma cancer cells and NOT her good cells like the stem cell transplant did and put her into remission.

UPDATE TIME! November - December 2022: Well this one is an extremely hard emotional one for me and my family. The last 4 weeks my mom felt something wasn't right with her body. Mostly the physical capabilities seemed to feel much worse, but why when all her numbers have been great these past 3 months, better than they have been during this entire ordeal. The last 4 weeks we watched slowly as her numbers were going in the wrong direction again and within 2 wks double and now in just weeks double again in the wrong direction. I then knew and was confirmed that the Cancer has picked up its aggressiveness and progression at a very fast pace. The Transplant did not work for her. Now while they figure out what they can do because the Oncologist said "I've never seen anyone's cancer come back so aggressively and fast right after having a transplant" she will be admitted down in Philly this weekend to put her back on Chemo to try and slow it down again. It is already shutting her kidneys down again as well. They want to start her on the drug that she had an allergic reaction to not once but twice(yes I'm scared because it cut her airway type of reaction) But all in a shot not a drip, hence why being admitted to be monitored in case of non tolerance again. His hopes are for her to be able to tolerate this Chemo to give her body time so they can figure what else can help her. She Got the Chemo drug in her last night(@ 10:30PM) and guess what NO REACTION!!!! YAYYYYYYYY She actually feels great, pumped on LOTS of steroids lol and other meds. So the downfall plan...she has to come back and forth here in Philly weekly for the next 6/8 weeks to get this shot(ughhh gas, tolls, missed work for my dad) This will slow down the spreading and aggressiveness (hopefully) until a new plan is in place which is already in the talks.

Let me just start by saying … This has been a tough couple weeks on all of us that we were definitely not prepared for: My Beautiful Mother - Shannon McCann was diagnosed on February 4th, 2023 with Multiple Myeloma which is a type of cancer. Multiple Myeloma is a blood plasma cancer that attacks your bones and affects the production of bone marrow. This has also caused her kidneys to go into stage 5 kidney renal failure.

Shannon has begun her chemo treatments and in the future the side effects could be severe times. These treatments will go on for several months. After that she will have to have a bone marrow transplant and go from there. Shannon travels back and forth to the cancer center 2-3 times a week for constant testing and treatments. It is a long journey that we will be enduring as a family, but a journey of hope.

She has to go through months of chemo and they are going to try and use her own stem cells for the bone marrow transplant! This type of Cancer is a liquid cancer that attacks her ORGANS , blood and kidneys .

As you all know, Shannon loves her friends, family, coworkers and her job as an Associate Teacher at HeadStart. She misses teaching her "little ones" so much and can't wait to get back to doing what she loves in life. She loves spontaneous adventures with her granddaughters, husband, daughters and friends and is just missing life in general right now.

Our goal is to get my Mother back to being the amazing kindhearted, adventurous mom, grandma, wife, sister we all know and love. We hope you could show your love and support ♥️
