Help Shannon in Her Fight Against Ovarian Cancer

Hi, my name is Kathleen and I am creating this gofundme to raise money to assist a dear friend of ours who is battling ovarian cancer.

Shannon's journey started in January of 2023 while we were away in Buffalo at a tournament. Shannon fell ill while she was there and when she returned home, she followed up with the doctors. Shannon ended up having hernia surgery shortly after thinking that was the issue but she continued to be extremely sick. Post-operation her doctor made the recommendation of a CAT scan but she never made it to that appointment because she ended up in the ER with severe pains in her abdominal area. While in the ER a CAT scan was done which showed two large masses on her ovaries as well as a collapsed lung. By March 5th, she was admitted to the hospital and underwent surgery to remove the masses. During surgery, Shannon underwent a hysterectomy as well as having her appendix removed. The family was told after the surgery that the masses were the size of melons! The next 21 days were spent recovering in the hospital.

Shannon was eventually diagnosed with a form of ovarian cancer and at present time is undergoing chemotherapy and attending several doctor appointments each month to monitor her treatment.

Due to all of this, she is currently on leave from her job with the juvenile probation department which she has been a part of for the last 23 years. She focuses on treatment and recovery. She has dedicated her life to helping juveniles get on the right track so they can achieve all of their hopes and dreams.

This has been some of the hardest and most challenging times in Shannon's life, which have affected her mentally and physically. With all of this going on, she has maintained a positive attitude and has been fighting this fight with the utmost courage. The goal is to help alleviate as much as we can off the family during this unimaginable time. The funds will be given to the family for medical bills from appointments and treatments, traveling to and from doctors' appointments, medications, etc.
