Help Shannon throughout her Stage 4 Cancer

My name is Tasha Sykes, and my family has recently received devastating news regarding my mother.
On June 23, 2023, my mom Shannon went to the doctor for a routine checkup that was followed by a routine mammogram. The mammogram revealed two irregular masses inside of the left breast, one at 9 o’clock and the other at 10 o’clock both measuring approximately 7 cm. These results were followed by countless doctor visits, biopsies, and scans that changed her life forever.
On Shannon’s birthday, July 6, 2023, her test results were finalized, and she was diagnosed with Stage 4, Lymphadenopathy Triple Negative Breast Cancer that has traveled to both her lymph nodes in her lung and her left rib cage.
Her team of doctors located at MD Anderson Downtown Houston has been an amazing care team, and the facility is, without a doubt amazing. However, these recent weeks have left her stressed and, in a daze. The HR with her employer has failed her and left her with no current insurance. My mom was going through a recent promotion within her job that causes her insurance to change over, the HR department and insurance company dropped the ball and failed to process the proper documentation leaving her without health insurance and paying a lump sum of 4,345.60 for each chemotherapy appointment that is scheduled once a week on Thursdays. The insurance has yet to be reinstated so our family is at a loss She has paid out of pocket for her most recent visit, and this is not something that she can continue to do along with her monthly bills, weekly doctor visit and more.
Shannon has not been able to work since July 3rd, and the chemotherapy she is going through does not allow her to be in the heat. This makes her unable to work. If you know my family, you know this is a hard but necessary request. So many people have reached out with a desire to help and with these most recent events we as a family decided this would be our best decision to help my mom with her treatment and stay afloat with all her bills and the care of my 16-year-old brother.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your contribution, we love you all for what you can donate.
