Help Sharan Reunite with Her Mother

Hi. I'm Sharan. I recently turned 65. I'm trying to get back home! I've lived in Portland, Oregon for the past 25 years, moving up from Santa Barbara, California, so my husband (now ex) could take a position at the university. I left behind some dear friends and family! Portland is an amazing city. Oregonians are incredibly kind and diverse, and the area flora is gorgeous!! I raised my three sons here, but now they've all flown off to different parts of the world.

I find myself all alone here, and quite trapped-unless I can raise enough money to move. ALL family and friends have moved away. I've wanted to return to the Southern California area for a long time, to help care for my widowed 86 year old mother, who's been struggling with her health. But doing so is the tricky part! I have to find the means to wrap up a rented house, and transport a few cherished things home.

But now my own health has become very fragile, and I think it may be my mom taking care of me--at least for a little while! There's fibromyalgia, the spinal injury & surgery, then breast cancer, lung embolisms. Recently, I lost the vision in my left eye, possibly a hemmorhage due to blood thinners. I'm really terrified of losing sight in both my eyes, and having no help nearby.

I am trying to raise enough to move, in the least expensive manner possible, a 2 bedroom house, giving much to charity.

I live on Social Security Disability. They may brag that Social Security helps seniors retire with dignity: but it isn't true. Especially for the disabled, each year is a further slide into deeper poverty. But with a little help, I hope to end up at home with Mom, and we can care for one another during the precious time left to us!
