About the Film

This documentary will follow the historical impact to the world stage that began with the successful slave revolt on the island of Hispaniola against the greatest army of its time, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, to the political firestorm in Springfield, Ohio that turned the tide of a stagnant political campaign for the Presidency of the United States of America.

Haiti’s impact began as a beacon of hope and haven for the world’s slave population and in turn has been punished for the audacity of its creed: ‘ LIVE FREE OR DIE”.

The world powers colluded to assure the failure of Haiti and it went from the “Pearl of the Caribbean” as the wealthiest of France’s colonies, financing over 60% of its GDP, to the poorest country of the western Hemisphere.

The film will also include the positive impact Haitians escaping the poverty and violence at home to their new homes in Africa and France in the sixties to Montreal, New York and Miami in eighties and nineties as doctors, nurses, professors and laborers.

Why This Film Matters

The narrative about Haiti has always been controlled by outside forces wanting to manipulate the truth to benefit themselves and the result is the world’s image of Haitians is one the worst of any on earth. This film will allow the valiant and hard-working Haitians to finally set the record straight and present the truth about its people’s accomplishments on the world stage, from its victorious freedom fighter to its much-loved Art, Music and Culinary Delights.

Today Americans do not know that Haiti directly impacted the Louisiana Purchase and French school books do not mention that France lost its best colony to a bunch of machete wielding X-Slaves.

Most importantly, young Haitians everywhere need to hear the truth about their heritage and become: HAITIAN and PROUD .
