“Recovering After Falling Down a Elevator Shaft - Need Help!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sharyl Bennett and I’m reaching out for support after a life-changing accident. I’ve always been independent, working as a caretaker, house cleaner, and dog sitter, but now, I need help.
In September 2024, while cleaning a newly constructed home, I fell three stories down an elevator shaft. I was trapped for 18 hours until a neighbor heard my cries and called 911. When paramedics found me, I was pinned under a 12-foot ladder, likely from trying to pull myself up.
My Injuries & Recovery:
I suffered:
• A crushed tibia (awaiting knee replacement)
• Three broken ribs
• A broken wrist and fingers (need surgery to regain function)
• Head injury with brain bleed
• A torn rotator cuff (awaiting surgery)
I spent nearly three months in the hospital and am still in a wheelchair and walker, only able to walk short distances. I have several surgeries and months of rehabilitation ahead.
Why I Need Help:
I haven’t been able to work for six months and am out of savings. My kind landlord has been patient with my rent, but I need to catch up before I lose my home. Donations will help with:
• Medical expenses & surgeries
• Rehabilitation & physical therapy
• Rent, utilities & food
• Car expenses (so I can attend medical appointments)
Before my accident, I had started training in life coaching and trauma therapy. Once I recover, I hope to finish my training and help others.
How You Can Help:
This has been the hardest time of my life, but I am grateful to be alive. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to me. If you can’t donate, please share my story.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support.
